The Clubhouse at Ellison Preschool is an outdoor play-based program that helps prepare children for their transition into Kindergarten. We understand the benefits of time spent outdoors and look forward to sharing our space with your child!
The Clubhouse at Ellison Preschool is hosted outdoors at The Clubhouse Farm during the Spring and Fall. During the winter months, we are located in Ellison Elementary School.
What do we do here?
We know that playing, experimenting, getting creative, and relaxing in nature in all seasons and all weather has been scientifically shown to benefit children in many ways. From eyesight development and improving concentration, to developing imagination, social skills, risk assessment and problem solving skills, spending time outside benefits each and every child’s overall health and well-being.
At The Clubhouse at Ellison Preschool, we want to provide a safe space for children to gain all of these benefits of the outdoors while also working with them to prepare for Kindergarten and their transition into Elementary school. We sing songs, read books, build, create art and play all outdoors. Our children learn to enter into play, self-regulate, and feel secure in their selves and their surroundings.
Our program focuses on social-emotional development, the process of learning a sense of self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills. We believe the development of these skills is integral to a child’s success in school and a play-based approach is the best way we can foster this development in the Early Years.
Who are our teachers?
Our Early Childhood Educators have a passion for teaching and for learning. Early Childhood Educators and Assistants at the Clubhouse continue to learn about the Early Years, our environment and our community through in-person and online professional development throughout the year. We are committed to elevating our practice and our profession in the field of child care.
