More About Clubhouse

What is our philosphy?

We believe that children need to spend time outside to get dirty, explore, and investigate. Children must have the time, space, and autonomy they need in order to grow and develop.  To us this means that children need to be given the time to fully enter into a state of deep play which could take up to 45 minutes.  They also benefit from revisiting a space to continue previous projects, and they also need to have the freedom to make choices and decisions for themselves in that time.  We feel that this is the best way for children to develop the social, emotional and physical skills needed to live a successful and happy life.

What is a not for profit child care organization?

In B.C., not-for-profit / non-profit organisations are known as societies. Societies are independent, democratic organisations that are required to comply with the Societies Act and their own constitution and bylaws.  Societies do not earn any profits for their members. All money is donated to the organisation’s cause or goal. They may be eligible to register as a charitable organisation, and receive funding from community or government grants.

As a Not-for-Profit and charitable child care organisation, we focus on delivering the best service possible for our community. Our Board of Directors, Society Members, and all of our Educators see a need to provide more opportunities for children to get out in nature.

How the bus will make our program better

With this additional bus we will be able to widen our impact and give more children from different organisations the opportunity to come to the farm and forest programs to learn.  With the rising costs of transportation we want to provide future partners with safe and affordable busing to our nature based locations.  Our current partners include Interior Health, The Regional District of Central Okanagan, and School District 23. We hope to expand our partner list and help other child care organisations utilise the farm and forest spaces.
